Leakage Inductance as a Function of Position |
The position sensor works like a differential transformer. It consists of three windings. A carrier frequency is connected to the middle winding W1. This signal is transmitted with a certain coupling to W3 and W2. A magnetic rod varies the coupling between W1, W2 and W1, W3 depending on position z. A measurement bridge evaluate this dependence.
The change of coupling is quantiy of the laekage inductance. In figure 6.1 the dependence of the leakage inductance versus position is shown.|

|Beside the coupling the AC resistance can be calculated as a function of position. In figure 6.2 you can see power losses depending on position z.|
