Leakage Inductance as a Function of Position

The position sensor works like a differential transformer. It consists of three windings. A carrier frequency is connected to the middle winding W1. This signal is transmitted with a certain coupling to W3 and W2. A magnetic rod varies the coupling between W1, W2 and W1, W3 depending on position z. A measurement bridge evaluate this dependence.

The change of coupling is quantiy of the laekage inductance. In figure 6.1 the dependence of the leakage inductance versus position is shown.

Beside the coupling the AC resistance can be calculated as a function of position. In figure 6.2 you can see power losses depending on position z.
